This modular sofa system embraces the open architecture of modern companies, buildings, and spaces. A unique detail is the invisible fastening of the back cushions, which makes them appear to float. 'By flattening the design, we created a modular sofa system that does not block the lines of sight in a room,' says design duo Daphna Laurens. 'Not even the back cushions.'
Flatlands' best-kept secret is the powder-coated aluminium profile on the bottom, which is only visible when viewed from a distance. 'The challenge was to design a modular sofa system that rests on an existing aluminium extrusion profile,' according to Daphna Laurens. 'We started the design process by creating several possible directions and options. Some highlighted the profile while others concealed it.'
The modular nature of the Flatlands line allows for endless configurations. Opt for a corner unit, a plus-shape, or a straight sofa, or create the Flatlands sofa that perfectly suits your interior. Flatlands configurations are available in a wide range of fabrics, stain colours, and laminated top layers. Add backrests or leave it entirely open to stimulate conversation. Flatlands has an optional raised table top with storage space underneath.
